One Year Blogiversary!

When I first set up JaysenHeadleyWrites, it was under the pretense that, as a writer, I should have a place to showcase all my work.  That was it.  If you can believe it, know that as of this time exactly one year ago, I was NOT a Disney fan.  Not at all.  I didn’t hate Disney by any means, but it just wasn’t something I gave much care for.  Disney?  Meh!  However, all of that changed last year.

It Started with a Ring

Many of you will know the story of how, one year ago, I went to Disney World for the first time in my life with my partner Carl Li and while there, we got engaged.  If you don’t know this story, and would like more details, well, you can check out this oldy but goody post right HERE.

Good?  You read it?  Okay, great.  Let’s continue.  That day transformed me.  I had never been to a place like Disney World and I instantly fell in love with it.  I wanted to know more.  I wanted to know how it worked.  I got this silly idea that I would do a fun project on my blog that I hadn’t touched or looked at for eight months.  I was going to watch every Disney animated film and write about them.  Sounds pretty fun, right?

Vault Disney

If you haven’t checked out my Vault Disney series, you can do so HERE

Vault Disney was this amazing project that, as I did it, I started to talk with many of you who are still with the blog today.  It was transformative.  I learned so much BUT I also met so many amazing people.  From Facebook groups where I met new friends, to here where I found people that, and you know who I’m talking about if you’re one of them, I genuinely couldn’t wait to see comment on each post.  It was just so much fun!  I quickly fell down the rabbit hole of Disney and am happily still not out of it!

Now I am currently working on the Vault Pixar project, where I have been watching every Pixar film to date, which has been equally enjoyable and, since this feels like a sharing kind of post, I’ll also say that next we will be doing Vault Ghibli where we will be watching and researching every Ghibli film to date!  I.  Can’t.  Wait!!!

DMK

Arguably the biggest thing to happen to my blog was the release of Disney Magic Kingdoms, a game which I have become eternally ingrained in the community of.  I love this game and the developers and the players so much and writing about it has been an amazing next step for this blog.  Only a few months into the release, I find that I want to write about it constantly and I’ve once again found myself meeting new and truly awesome people because of it.

The Kingdom

This has been a new project for me and I haven’t really talked about it that much aside from posting the chapters.  Essentially, this is a little idea that ended up being so much fun that I’ve sunk my teeth into it.  I plan for this series to have story arcs sort of like TV Seasons.  The first Season will end with Chapter 20 in a few weeks.  In the meantime, you can read all of the chapters so far HERE.  This has been a project that has been really special just from the standpoint of letting me play around with characters and try new things I haven’t tried yet.  And with the final chapters of Season 1 upon us, here’s a teaser image for the end of the arc.

What’s to Come

I have a lot planned for this blog over the next year.  I mean, A LOT.  One big thing I will soon start talking about is my next published novel, which will be out Summer of 2017.  I also have several more projects up my sleeve and I’m sure there will be other fun things along the way.  I am actually going to Disney THIS WEEK so I will be posting some fun articles about our adventures there as well!

Thank YOU!!!!!

I think when a lot of people sit down to make a blog, the first thought they have is “I’m going to get tons of views and make money!!!”  I’ll admit, I was in the same boat.  And while I am certainly happy that the Blog’s audience has grown so much this past year, the only thing that really matters is all of the amazing people I’ve met through this site.  You are all fantastic!  Your love and support gets me up in the morning and keeps me up at night.  Your kindness and constant feedback means the world to me.  I am so happy to be part of this amazing community.  Like a good relationship, I have a hard time remembering my life without it.

Thank you for one of the most amazing years of my life.  Now let’s go have another adventure!

  1. Congratulations! I have to say i’m very impressed with how quickly you’ve become an authority on Disney. Your Vault series are wonderful. Also, apologies, I hadn’t had the chance to read your proposal until now – what a beautiful story and such a happy memory. I’m thrilled for you both 🙂

    • Hahaha. I don’t know if I would call myself an authority. Obsessive is a better word for it! Lol. But thank you for the love and support. You’re comments and support are always welcome 🙂

  2. I eagerly await the beginning of Vault Ghibli! I started on a Ghibli kick last year, and I can’t get enough (my favorites being KIKI’S DELIVERY SERVICE, SPIRITED AWAY, and ARRIETTY).

On the subject of vaults, after Vault Ghibli is finished, do you plan to do a Vault DreamWorks?

  3. WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU’RE ENDING SEASON 1 WITH CHAPTER 20? Am I going to have to wait 6 months to find out what happens after that?! I don’t think I’m can take it!

Also, congrats on the one year. 😉
