Troll Knoll and Searching for Kristoff – Disney Magic Kingdoms

Hello and welcome to the last progress update until Kristoff unlocks later this week.  When talking to DMK Youtuber A Geeky Chick, who you can check out by heading HERE I actually mentioned that this was my favorite update so far in the game.  I know a lot of people have been a bit confounded by the amount of work it takes to get the snowflake tokens, but I am actually super into it.  It’s engaging and requires me to actually think a little to make the best use of my time.  As a gamer, this extra layer of complexity actually makes me feel far more engaged in the game than I’ve felt in a long time.  That being said, I thought we’d take a look at the last few steps leading up to the “Welcome Kristoff” quest.  I’ll also share some other progress later in the post!

Working to Save the Kingdom

After the Snowgies started up, I really thought it would be minutes before I’d see the quest to build the Troll Knoll.  This was not the case.  I actually had several more quests, some of which ranked in the 12 hour stretch, before I would get to build again.  Now I know I’ve been pretty hard on the writing team over at DMK, but I have to say that there have been some notable improvements in this update.  If you look at the dialogue we were reading in the Cinderella update, I think you’ll agree, we’ve come a VERY long way.

Anna sets off to make a fool of herself!  But I have to say, her plan vaguely resembles the skit I had for family Christmas this year.  Anna, have you been reading my diary…again?

Unfortunately, some people just don’t know how to have fun.  Seriously, Hans has the sensibility of the dad from Mary Poppins.  Is his next quest going to be to take us to the bank to show us how important investing is?  Ugh!

Meanwhile, Mickey and Minnie are coating the kingdom in food.  Good job Goofy, we’ll have snow AND bugs.

Storm Clouds Round 2

With Goofy once again spending hours not accomplishing anything, we’re back to fighting off storm clouds.  This time you’ll need to hit 100.  You’ll be able to hit 10 every 30 minutes!

Troll Knoll

After thwarting the storm clouds, proving that Goofy is…well…goofy and watching Anna play out every rom-com ditsy female lead trope she could find, it is FINALLY time to build the Troll Knoll, which I recently learned is not just what the kids are calling Reddit these days.

img_1646

The Knoll will take 12 hours to build and cost a hefty 10,000 event currency.  It also takes up a sizable space, so be ready to move some things around.  I’ll take this brief moment to say that I have EVERY attraction so far and at least one of EVERY concession and decoration and so far, everything still fits, albeit not where I’d care for them to.

Half a day later and you’ll have your very own Troll Knoll…potentially right in the middle of Toon Town.  Sorry Donald.  This is just the way things have to be for now.

The Path to Kristoff

Meanwhile, Woody is having a rough day.

img_1652

Okay, I’m not going to say that this is aimed at me, but…well, I did burst out laughing when I saw it, so either way, mission accomplished.

img_1653

With the Troll Knoll built, Anna will head in to punch first and ask questions later…or maybe she’ll just make an oddly racist observation about trolls. Trolls are people too Anna!

Note that in order to search for Kristoff, you will need to have Anna to level 3.

img_1658

In a shocking turn of events, after spending 4 hours ‘searching’ we find that no one actually knows anything.  It’s like looking for legit reviews of Rogue One!

img_1661

At least we know why it took so long…

img_1662

With Anna left to take out her frustration on evil Snowgies, Merlin pops up to let us know that, yes indeed, everyone’s favorite mountaineer who splits his personality with a reindeer will be showing up any day now.

And with that, you are ready to welcome Kristoff later this week!

Progress

I’ve been steadily making progress with Minnie every day.  I definitely think I’ll have her by Christmas, no gems necessary, and I’ve seen a lot of people much further along than me, so don’t lose hope!!

img_1667

I also, for the first time EVER in my DMK play time, hit 1 million potions!  I know a lot of folks breezed by this ages ago, but it was a nice milestone for me.

And then I got my very first Frozen Fountain, which I’ll be placing just as soon as I find space.

As a special reminder, head over to Facebook and Twitter to participate in the Do You Want to Build a Snowman contest where you can get your hands on Olaf if you’ve been holding off!

That’s all we’ve got until Kristoff.  Are you enjoying this update as much as me?  And will you be participating in the contest?  Let me know in the comments!

  1. I am enjoying the update too! Troll Knoll is building now and I’ve got Olaf off chasing snowgies. I’ve been saving gems for just such a purchase, which is good because I can’t participate in the contest because…wait for it… I don’t do social media (gasp!)

You’re doing well on fabric for Minnie.

  2. i did well in welcome anna but i’m so desesperate for welcoming kristoff! the troll know still don’t appeared to me :(((

  3. I’m trying to avoid putting Mickey in his Pirate costume to Dance a Jig for the green fabric Minnie needs, but I might have to sacrifice as I only have 14 of the 35 needed so far. I’m almost done with the bows and blue fabric as they drop every single time, it seems.

I’m having a lot of fun with this one. I’m actually more excited for Sven than anything else… he’s one of my faves. 🙂

  4. Really enjoying the update! Almost ready for Minnie costume! Missing only the green fabric! I have 13 out of 35! 22 to go! I have been getting between 1 or 2 per day! I think I can get it by the end of the event!
