Disney Day Two – Hollywood Studios

Another day down! Hollywood Studios is a curious park, especially considering that many parts of the park are closed to make way for Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land. It feels like a bunch of different thoughts and ideas smushed together. I’ll admit, I found it to have a bit of an identity crisis. That being said, as the day progressed, we found a lot of Magic. We just had to slow down and find it.

Upon our arrival, we headed straight for Toy Story Midway Mania which did not disappoint. I played against Mom and Carl and won but only by a margin. Mom was laughing her head off next to me which made it a great way to start the day.

The day continued and since we were there so early, we quickly found that we had a lot more time to accomplish things. We headed to the Star Wars launch bay where we met Kylo Ren who was delightfully evil. So much so that I couldn’t stop laughing at him. This made things weird and the chance that my life would be taken, very high. We barely escaped! It was also a lot of fun to look at all the Star Wars props. As I said in my Day One post, I’ll be adding more on all these things later but I’ve included a couple of my favorites below.

We hit up a couple of rides and shows and found our way to Pluto who was absolutely adorable and led to some fantastic photos. As a side note, I can’t handle the way the animals sign by putting the book right on their nose. It’s sooooo cute!!! I die every time.

We decided this was our best shot at meeting Mickey and he was amazing. Look, at the end of the day, this is a person in a costume but even so, there is a feeling when you are in a room with Mickey. It feels as if you are in a scared place. You feel as though this is the moment you’ve been waiting for all your life. It’s pretty special to say the least.

I ducked inside the theater to grab some Zootopia ears when I was surprised by a Walt Disney museum of sorts.  If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll know that Disney history is my thing. We walked through and then checked out the Zootopia preview which showed a lot of footage not available to the public yet. Based on this fifteen minutes of footage, I can already say this movie will be amazing.

We then got in luck and managed to just catch Mike and Sully, especially fortunate as I was wearing my Monsters Inc. shirt!

We met some friends at the Brown Derby and had a great dinner complete with hors d’ouvres and Birthday champagne.

Before dinner we put in our order for our custom ears. I ran back to grab them afterwards and we gave them a try.  Note: We did not leave out Carl. He has a pair back home.

We watched the Star Wars fireworks show which was superb and Carl was almost moved to tears. It really captures the magic of Disney in that uniquely Disney way. A totally amazing show and can I just say that no one, NO ONE, does fireworks like Disney.

We ended the night with the amazing Fantasmic which sees Mickey fighting off baddies in a spectacular show.  The effects were great and it was, as so much at Disney is, unlike anything else.

We’re just getting home and I’m exhausted  I’ll try to post a quick update tomorrow but we will be taking the day off.  We’re so pumped for the next two parks, I can only imagine what magic awaits. And by the way, thank you to everyone wishing us a great trip. You are all so amazing and part of the Disney magic that keeps me going is you!
