Longtails - The Book Series

Cover Progess – Longtails: The Storms of Spring

Wow!  This last three months has just FLOWN by.  I can barely believe it.  In just a little over a month, Longtails: The Storms of Spring will be IN STORES and (hopefully) in YOUR HANDS!!!  I’m currently somewhere between screaming for joy and hiding in a corner and crying at this fact.  Anyway, editing is going well.  We are on our final proof read, crossing i’s and dotting t’s.  No.  Wait.  Other way around.  But in the meantime, I thought I’d share some of the amazing Cover Progress from the very talented Dexter Allagahrei who is creating the back and front covers for the book.  So let’s jump in and take a look, shall we?

Front Cover

For the front cover, Dexter started with the landscape, which I explained that I wanted to be a wheat field beneath a stormy sky.  After all, the book isn’t called The Storms of Spring for nothing!

She then began detailing mice.  My understanding is that the fur took some serious time to get right!  Here we see our hero, Del, along with fellow Longtails adventurer, Arthur.

And finally, we have here the progress on all four mice who will make up our Longtails band throughout the course of the adventure.  Fun fact, while this image is taken from a scene in the book, one of these mice actually won’t be present for said scene.  Hmm, wonder who it could be and why they are missing out!

Back Cover

For the back cover, we went a different route entirely.  Here we have the water spirit, Urabzu, who will be heavily featured later in the novel.

Urabzu is an otter unlike any other and getting the perfect horn structure took some tweaking.

And here is the near final back cover!

We’ll have an official cover reveal early in April, but in the meantime I just wanted you tall to know that we are working our butts off to make this book a reality.  I am really very proud of the book and happen to think it is my best work yet.  I can’t wait for you all to read it and get to know these mice that literally visit me in my dreams at this point!
