I Seriously Can’t Wait for The Jungle Book

I feel overcome with a sense of worry.  In the past couple of weeks, a lot of great press has been released for the new live action version of The Jungle Book.  My worry is that you, my amazing readers, don’t know how very excited I am for this movie. Let’s get one thing straight, I am freaking out over all the news of this film.  I think it looks fantastic.  I think the cast looks fantastic.  I think the soundtrack sounds fantastic.  All of it seems to mesh so well that I am really looking forward to seeing this film.  Below is a featurette released by Disney to show off the cast and how they went about adapting this Disney Classic into the film that we will be watching next month.

I especially love that Bill Murray mentions his love of the original book as a reason for wanting to do the film.  It’s that love for the source material that often makes projects so good.  The whole cast is solid but I’m especially excited for Scarlet Johansson as Kaa and Christopher Walkin as King Louie.  Not to mention that newcomer Neel Sethi looks great as Mowgli.  He seems very natural in the roll and just looks to always be having a good time.

Last week we also got a glimpse of some excellent photos of the cast with their characters.  I’ve put these below in case you missed them.  I think these are especially great as they are really pushing the fact that this is an all star, talented cast, despite the fact that they are all animated in the film.

These photos are such a great way to introduce the cast and they are done with such style.  All in all, this looks like a great team and my hopes are high that they will make something super wonderful.  While Disney has been having a stretch of really solid animated films, their live action ventures of late have been met with some criticism.  Maleficent  and Alice in Wonderland weren’t really considered the best films ever.  Hopefully this film puts them as on track with live action as they have been with animation.

So?  Are you excited yet?  And which cast member do you think is going to be the best in their role?  Let me know in the comments below.

  1. In principle, I’m quite against all these live-action Disney remakes of their animated films. The only one that I’ve been open to though was this one (as well as the recently announced live-action adaptation of the books that The Black Cauldron was based on).

However, the more trailers I’ve seen, the less excited I’ve gotten. But hopefully, the movie will surprise me and I’ll like it like I liked Cinderella.

I’m way more excited for the 2017 WB Jungle Book film, Jungle Book: Origins, with Andy Serkis, Christian Bale, and Benedict Cumberbatch!

  2. Cinderella was really good and close to the original movie while also adding a bit more for the audience to enjoy, which had me really hyped for future LA remakes (Even though I still don’t think Dumbo, Maleficent 2, or Pinocchio will be much good). I must say, though, out of all of them, Beauty and the Beast and Jungle Book have me the most excited. Every time I see the Jungke Book trailer, and I hear that epic Bear Nessessities in the background, I get so happy. The cast looks phenomenal, the scenery is beautiful, and it looks just like Cinderella where it’s enough like the original to not have fans mad, while still adding something new.
