In 2006 when my first webcomic, The Class, launched, I considered the idea of starting a personal blog. It would be a place to link all of my work and a place where I could keep everyone up to date on the latest happenings in my personal and professional life. It was a great idea. Lots of colors and icons and widgets and the like. Sadly, life happened and as I con-hopped and worked on the comic, the idea of making my own site got put on the “I’ll do it tomorrow list.” I’d like to say I stayed that busy but really it just became easy to put it on the back-burner.
Well, at long last, here it is. This is the place I will put my work going forward, starting with my new book which will release in a chaptered format until it’s publication later this year. A Love Story for Witches represents a shift for me. My work in the past had all been about grief and recovery, pain and perseverance but with Love Story I finally found my footing to write about that thing that kicks our asses, makes us want to laugh and cry and scream and fall over in a pile on the floor, frothing at the mouth: Love. The story began as a comic but soon became something completely different, ending up in the form you see today. I hope you guys like it because it has become a huge part of my life and writing it has brought me a lot of joy over the past several months.
The other project you’ll see updated here is my new Youtube show, First Impressions, which is being hosted by my amazingly talented partner, Carl Li. Carl comes from an acting background and is also well versed in all things geek so being able to talk to you guys about the things we watch, read or intake has been a very fun project so far. Check it out and let us know your thoughts. Carl stays up late into the night editing the videos so I know he’d appreciate it.
I hope to have other projects here and maybe to even update this blog with real things sometimes. Note, by real things I mean what other people call emotions. Until then, enjoy the work here and let’s all have fun being creative together.
